WHAT THE GOOD FOLKS ARE SAYING
PROOF OF THE WORK
A metaphor for what it's like to work with Layli:
Imagine that therapy is like the sand at the beach. It's foundational and each grain has come from other larger rocks becoming smaller and more digestible over time (human knowledge). Each grain reflects the light of the sun in glinty little ways that illuminate aspects of ourselves.
The sun on the horizon is our true self, shining out from the heavens far far away. We can walk on the beach and feel the sun, see it glinting in the tiny pieces of sand, and capture an understanding of ourselves.
Maybe after many years of therapy and or ongoing conversations with our tribe and trusted ones, we get in a boat that is sitting on the sand, we say goodbye to the beach and we start out on our own towards the sun.
Gradually, or maybe very suddenly, the water starts to get choppy, a storm rolls in, the boat starts to rock. You start to fucking ride those waves, using all the tools you have, and attempt to continue navigating towards the sun.
Working with Layli is realizing at some moment when you look past the waves, the storm, the turbulence, that you have only all this time been navigating on the SURFACE of the ocean. You realize you can't look back to the beach for guidance, and that the sun will always continue to be on the horizon. You look down into the depths of the ocean and realize the ocean is YOU. It's mysterious, magical, has fathomless deeps, and less is known about it than all the material things on the shore that have taught you up til now.
Layli suddenly appears on that boat and you both jump from its rocking edge into the rolling ocean waves at the same time.
After the initial shock of hitting the freezing salty water, and for sure some of it going up your nose, some tumbling and disorientation -- instead of being filled with panic, you are filled with calm; you find you can see in the water and your lungs are working in some other magical way that allows you to see clearly in the dark. Actually, now the storm doesn't have any effect on you because of the depths you've reached and you find yourself swimming in strong, decisive strokes. You discover that here in the depths you can see huge columns of light streaming down from above, MUCH brighter than those little bits of sand ever did on the beach. The rays of light are coming from the sun, they are amplified here in the deep calm water, they shift and move in a comforting dance.
You find that below the surface of the storm, you can swim in these streams of light towards the sun, much faster than navigating in the boat. The sun (your eternal self and true purpose), illuminates the currents that rush and pull you towards your purpose.
You're swimming on your own, but every so often you catch a glimpse of ...a dolphin? a mermaid? Layli? and are assured you are moving in the right direction.
- MEL K.
"I reached out to Layli while in the midst of a high conflict divorce, where I had been dealing with so many stressful material things that I hadn't had any time to grieve or process my experiences at an emotional level. I'd gone to a sound bath where I discovered while scanning my body internally that I had an ocean of tears under my eyes that needed to be let out, but honestly didn't know when or how to release those tears.
About a month later, I scheduled an initial call with Layli to find out about what she did. The night BEFORE we spoke, I dreamt that she gave me a simple chiropractic adjustment, and all of my tears started flowing like a river from out my eyes, which felt like a very clear confirmation.
Working with Layli has been the most grounding and transformative experiences this past year as I've continued to navigate a new chapter of life. She has accompanied me to, in my opinion, gain wisdom about 20x faster than I otherwise could have on my own or in therapy, and that means that I have avoided about 20x less stress and pain than I would have had I not been doing the deep work needed to understand, grieve, heal and grow after more than a decade in an emotionally abusive relationship."
“Oh my Lord.
Like f*ck talk therapy, this is where it’s at. It was sober ayahuasca, dude...I love you. I am grateful”
“This practice with Layli has allowed me to develop more confidence, decisiveness, and certitude through the many tests and difficulties I have faced. Learning how to turn towards this inner wisdom has been akin to learning to surf with assurance and direction rather than floundering in waves of tumultuous thought, maladaptive voices, and the often-overwhelming emotions that come with being an exquisitely sensitive individual.
This work isn’t about drowning any of those feelings out—it’s about calling upon yourself to contextualize what you’re experiencing within a greater understanding of your life’s path and purpose so that you can find your footing and respond with resilience and hope.
I consider this to be a supremely noble aspiration and one for which I am very grateful to Layli for helping me strive toward.”
